Marvel's VISION Reportedly Adds Human Version of Spider-Man's E.D.I.T.H. From SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME — GeekTyrant

Marvel's Vision series is quietly assembling one of the most fascinating lineups of characters the MCU has seen in a while, and the latest addition has ties to Tony Stark and Peter Parker. According to reliable scooper Daniel Richtman, Schitt's Creek star Emily Hampshire has joined the cast of Vision as the human form of E.D.I.T.H., the Stark-created AI system first introduced in Spider-Man: Far From Home . If true, it marks a big evolution for the character, who until now has only existed as a voice inside Tony's tech. While Marvel hasn't officially confirmed the casting, Richtman's recent scoop about T'Nia Miller being cast as Jocasta in the show was verified hours later by trades, so this one's likely on the money too. For those who forgot, E.D.I.T.H. was Stark's posthumous gift to Peter Parker, an augmented reality AI defense system housed in a pair of slick sunglasses, granting access to Stark's satellites, drones, and firepower. Things went south when Peter handed it off to Mysterio, and the Department of Damage Control seized it after the London debacle. Originally voiced by Dawn Michelle King, a respected film editor on projects like Ant-Man and Spider-Man: Homecoming , E.D.I.T.H. was never portrayed physically. So casting Hampshire makes sense if the series is bringing her into the flesh. Showrunner Terry Matalas, who previously worked with Hampshire on 12 Monkeys , seems to be leaning into the idea of giving physical identities to familiar AIs. Vision is already stacked with Paul Bettany back in the lead, James Spader returning as Ultron, and appearances from Marvel deep cuts like Faran Tahir reprising his Iron Man role as Raza. Hampshire will join a growing cast that also includes Todd Stashwick, and Ruaridh Mollica (rumored to play Tommy Maximoff). There are also whispers of appearances from Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda and Joe Locke as Billy Maximoff, though that hasen't been confirmed. Bettany teased the show last year, saying, 'We're cooking up something that I'm really excited about.' And when pressed for more details? 'Snitches end up in ditches,' he joked. Vision is set to begin filming in 2025 and premiere on Disney+ in 2026. Whatever form this strange techno-spiritual sequel to WandaVision takes, it sounds like it's embracing some interesting corners of the Marvel Universe.

THE SANDMAN's Two-Season Run Was 'Always the Plan,' Says Showrunner, But Fans Still Have Questions — GeekTyrant

Netflix's The Sandman is preparing to bow out this summer with its second and final season, and according to showrunner Allan Heinberg, that was the plan all along. Even if the timing of the announcement made some fans raise an eyebrow. When Netflix first renewed the hit adaptation in 2022, the streamer hyped a growing 'Sandman world' and teased more stories drawn from Neil Gaiman's iconic graphic novels. What the announcement didn't do was offer any specifics, like how many seasons viewers could expect. That lack of clarity has left some fans feeling blindsided by the revelation that the upcoming second season is the end of the road. Then came January 2025. Just as headlines began swirling around Gaiman, who denied allegations of sexual abuse, Netflix confirmed that The Sandman would conclude with Season 2. Some assumed the controversy may have prompted a creative pivot or early cancellation. But Heinberg insists that's not the case, he told Variety: 'The Sandman series has always been focused exclusively on Dream's story, and back in 2022, when we looked at the remaining Dream material from the comics, we knew we only had enough story for one more season.' Now, with the show's return just weeks away, Heinberg is doubling down. In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, he said: 'It was a decision we made three years ago.' He acknowledged the awkward optics of Netflix's timing, announcing the end of the series just as Gaiman-related controversy was growing, but emphasized that the creative plan hadn't changed. 'I can't say that it affected our process, which is scheduled years in advance. It's been in the periphery of my experience and the background of my experience, but it hasn't been part of the world of the making of the show, if that makes sense. Every production is its own little island.' Still, the rollout has felt to some fans like the kind of tidy PR positioning studios fall back on when external complications arise. The situation echoes the path taken by Good Omens , another Gaiman-driven project. That show opted for a single 90-minute special instead of a full third season, and Gaiman stepped back from production altogether. Whether or not viewers buy the "two-season plan" pitch, The Sandman's endgame is now locked in. Season 2 will release in two parts, with the first on July 3, and the finale on July 24. As Morpheus prepares for his final on-screen chapter, audiences will be watching to see how the story ends, and how the show will close out under a cloud of controversy and curiosity.

Will Matt Reeves' THE BATMAN: PART II Have a Co-Director? — GeekTyrant

Matt Reeves' The Batman was a bold, brooding noir that reimagined Gotham as a dark and gritty detetective-driven crime thriller. The director did such a great job with the film, and fans have been patiently waiting for the sequel. Reeves has been developing The Batman: Part II for years, and he's also been going through some personal matters, which has slowed the process. While Gunn has confirmed that Reeves is still attached to direct, a new rumor suggests he might not go it alone for the sequel. On The Hot Mic podcast, entertainment scooper Jeff Sneider said: 'I mean, I'd be surprised if he directed the movie alone. If he remains on board as director, why isn't it conceivable that he could have a co-director? Particularly James Gunn. 'I don't know, it could be anybody. I'll tell you who's just hanging out there in the wind: Mr. Sam Raimi.' I love that he just dropped Raimi's name. The man behind Evil Dead and Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man trilogy just 'hanging out in the wind'? That's one way to stir the Bat-pot! I'd personally love to see Raimi direct a Batman movie! But, his style is so different from Reeves' I'm not sure it would the right team up. Let's be clear here, though, there's no confirmation here, but the idea of Reeves potentially bringing on a co-director feels… out of place. His take on the Caped Crusader is focused and particular. Mixing another voice with a different style into the mix, especially one as distinct as Raimi's, could throw off-the balance. The sequel's been in development since it was first announced at CinemaCon back in April 2022. It was once aiming for a 2026 release but is now officially slated for October 1, 2027. According to earlier reports, Reeves 'has been sending pages for more than half a year' and a 'first full draft of the script is expected to be delivered by Memorial Day.' At this point, Warner Bros. hasn't dropped any plot details, but Robert Pattinson will return to take on the role of Bruce Wayne aka Batman. I also imagine we'll see Zoe Kravits back as Catwoman and Colin Farrell as The Penguin. So… could Reeves bring in another filmmaker to help carry the weight? Maybe. Would that compromise the artistic clarity fans loved about the first film? Also maybe. Until we hear something official, though, it's all speculation.

John Krasinski Says Domhnall Gleeson Discussed Taking Role in THE OFFICE Spinoff Series THE PAPER With Him — GeekTyrant

Fans of The Office are looking forward to the upcoming series The Paper , which is set in the same universe as the fan-favorite show, which followed employees at the Dunder-Mifflin Paper Company in Scranton, Pennsylvania. While it was a mockumentary-style show set out to capture the daily lives of a group of co-workers and their cringy boss, it was also so full of heart and fantastically-written characters, it has stayed at the top of rewatched series since it aired. John Krasinski, who played Jim in The Office , got to know the star of the upcoming spinoff, Domhnall Gleeson, while working with him on recently released Apple TV+ adventure flick Fountain of Youth . The Office showrunner Greg Daniels created the spinoff with Michael Koman ( Nathan For You ), and Daniels is showrunning the new series set to stream on Peacock in September. When asked by Entertainment Tonight if he could see himself reuniting with Daniels on The Paper , Krasinski said, 'I would do anything for that guy. He calls, I'll show up.' He went on to say that Gleeson is 'amazing,' adding, 'He's one of my favorite actors. I remember we were in Cairo [filming Fountain of Youth ], and he said, 'Can I talk to you about something?' And it was real serious. He said, 'I just got offered this part in The Paper . What do you think?'' 'I said, 'You've got to do it,'' Krasinski continued. 'He's like, 'I think it's going to be really good.' I said, 'As long as Greg is behind it, it's going to be great.' We're all so supportive. The whole cast [of The Office ] was texting about these guys making their show. It's going to be awesome.' The Paper also stars Sabrina Impacciatore ( The White Lotus ), Melvin Gregg ( Nine Perfect Strangers ), Chelsea Frei ( The Moodys ), Ramona Young ( Never Have I Ever ), Gbemisola Ikumelo ( A League of Their Own ), Alex Edelman ( Just For Us ), and Tim Key ( The End of the F***ing World ) as the staffers of The Truth Teller . The Office actor Oscar Nuñez recurs alongside Nancy Lenehan ( Veep ), Molly Ephraim ( Last Man Standing ), Tracy Letts ( Homeland ), and Allan Havey, who appeared as Henry Bruegger — a Brussels sprouts farmer and father of Nora Kirkpatrick's Esther Bruegger — in The Farm episode of The Office that doubled as a backdoor pilot for a potential spinoff fronted by Rainn Wilson's Dwight Schrute. The Paper premieres this fall on Peacock. via: CB
